A Nigerian-born British dancer and actress knew for portraying Jabba the Hutts Twilek slave dancer Oola in the 1983 motion picture Return of the Jedi.
Taylor portrayed the slave dancer Oola inReturn of the Jedi, the last film of the original trilogy. She reprised the part fourteen years later, filming new scenes for the 1997 Special Edition release; and was the only performer from the original to do so. Because of this role, she appears at science fiction and Star Wars conventions around the world.
Born to a clan chieftain on her species homeworld of Ryloth, Oola was a green-skinned female Twilek. She devoted herself to dancing and was trained at a celebrated school. When given the opportunity to choose between two careers, Oola decided to take her chance on Tatooine, a desert planet controlled by the Hutts.
Around the time of the Battle of Endor; Oola served as the slave girl of the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure in his Tatooinian palace. Forced to wear skimpy fishnet garments that did little to provide her modesty and wore a collar and chain around her neck.
Oola made her final dance shortly before the arrival of Leia Organa and Chewbacca; to the music of the Max Rebo Band. When Jabba began pressing the Twilek slave for more than just dance; Oola pulled on her chain in defiance, arguing against Jabba. In retaliation, Jabba lured her with the chain over the trapdoor beneath his dais, watching as she fell into the Rancor pit. Unable to defend herself as she was eaten alive by Jabbas carnivorous pet, and her screams echoed throughout the palace.
