Kylo Ren is a Star Wars franchise fictional character. He initially debuted in The Force Awakens (2015) as the major adversary, played by Adam Driver. Driver played the character again in the sequel films Star Wars. The Last Jedi (2017) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). As well as Star Wars Resistance (2018-2020) and The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special (2020).
Ben Solo, the son of original Star Wars trilogy heroes Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa Skywalker, chose the name Kylo Ren. Though first taught as a Jedi by his uncle Luke Skywalker, Ben was enticed by Supreme Leader Snoke to the dark side of the Force and wishes to be as strong as his grandpa, the Sith Lord Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker. Kylo Ren serves as the master of the Knights of Ren, a high-ranking member of the First Order. And both an enemy and romantic interest to Rey throughout the sequel trilogy.
Ren realises that he shares a ‘Force dyad’ connection with Rey after killing Snoke and usurping his position as Supreme Leader. Eventually redeemed like his grandfather before him when he sacrifices himself to help Rey destroy the reborn Emperor Palpatine.
Furthermore, Kylo Ren has appeared in related media and merchandising in addition to films and television programmes. Driver’s performance has been praised by both critics and fans. Driver earned the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Force Awakens, making him the first Star Wars actor to do so since Alec Guinness in 1977. Driver nominated for a second time in the same category for his role in The Rise of Skywalker.
