Rey Star Wars Guide Origins Legacy & Signed Memorabilia
From the sun-scorched dunes of Jakku to the ancient Jedi temple on Ahch-To, Rey stands as one of the most transformative figures in the modern Star Wars universe. Introduced in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015). Her journey from an isolated scavenger to a powerful Jedi Knight redefined what it means to carry the legacy of the Force.
For fans and autograph collectors alike, Rey represents a pivotal era of Star Wars storytelling. Portrayed brilliantly by British actress Daisy Ridley, the character brought fresh hope. Emotional depth, and incredible lightsaber duels to the sequel trilogy.
When audiences first meet Rey, she is surviving day-to-day by trading salvaged starship parts on Jakku. Her life changes forever when she encounters the spherical astromech droid BB-8 and former First Order stormtrooper Finn. Her innate Force sensitivity quickly emerges during high-stakes escapes aboard the Millennium Falcon and her tense confrontation with Kylo Ren.
Seeking guidance, Rey tracks down the missing Jedi Master Luke Skywalker to the remote ocean world of Ahch-To. Under the tutelage of both Luke and later General Leia Organa, she masters the Jedi ways. Equally, constructing her own iconic yellow-bladed lightsaber by the conclusion of her journey.
Rey is the primary hero of the Star Wars sequel trilogy The Force Awakens. The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. She is a Force-sensitive warrior who trained under Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa to defeat Emperor Palpatine and the First Order. Eventually taking on the name Rey Skywalker to honour her mentors’ legacy.
Rey is played by actress Daisy Ridley in all three sequel trilogy films. As well as in various voice roles across animated series and video games.
Rey’s parents were Dathan and Miramir—a young couple who hid her on Jakku to protect her from Emperor Palpatine. Her father, Dathan, was a non-Force-sensitive strandcast clone derived from Palpatine. Also, making Rey the biological granddaughter of Emperor Sheev Palpatine.
While Rey is a Palpatine by blood, she chooses her own destiny. At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, she adopts the surname Skywalker with the spiritual blessing of Luke and Leia’s Force ghosts. Rejecting her dark bloodline in favour of the light.
Throughout most of the trilogy, Rey wields the restored Skywalker heirloom lightsaber (originally belonging to Anakin and Luke). At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, she constructs her own unique lightsaber featuring a yellow blade, forged from parts of her quarterstaff.
As the central hero of the sequel era, Rey items are among the most sought-after modern Star Wars collectibles on the market.
